Far, far away, though not so far that we wouldn’t be able to get there, among wide meadows there grew an old, beautiful and neglected orchard. One day in spring a wandering swallow flew into exactly this orchard. She sat on a flowering branch and whistled a welcome. The trees faintly rustled in response. “This is a most beautiful and hospitable place. So I’ll stay here a bit longer before I set out on my further journey,” thought the swallow. “In the meantime I’ll make myself a comfortable nest in a tree hollow.” And she flew to the nearby meadows to look for soft blades of grass.
